Movie Update

My pals and I caught THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE tonight, and it was surprisingly good. As a Vogue reader, the glimpse into how the biggest issue of the year is put together was quite fascinating.

The movie's soundtrack was also fun, and there were even tennis references! It was delightful.

More Important But...

I know there are more important things in the world (especially with all the recent crap going down in the Middle East), but...

1) Liverpool's captain, Steven Gerrard, was arrested for assault early this morning after celebrating his team's 5-1 thrashing of Newcastle and going 3 points clear of Chelsea atop the EPL table (booo!).

2) Found and bought this super-cute tennis skirt from SmashGal. Not sure if I'll wear it much, but I had to have it!

Shopping, Sweetie!

Today, I slept in since I didn't get in until after 4am the night before. But, once I woke up around 1pm, I realized that I had to get my butt into gear and get some shopping done, Sweetie.

My first and most important shopping mission was to pay homage to the brick and mortar version of one of my favorite online stores FRED FLARE! So, I got my trusty hopstop.com directions and took a couple of subways from Manhattan to Brooklyn and made it just in time before Fred Flare's Sunday closing time of 5pm. Of course, the store was SUPER-CUTE!
I was also fortunate enough to meet one of Fred Flare's co-founders/owners, the adorable Keith. He actually rang me up; such a treat!! I told him how big of fan I am, and he couldn't have been sweeter (even though I must have seemed like such a dorky mess).

Then, when I made my way back to Manhattan, I went shopping all up and down 5th Avenue. I think I would have made Edina and Patsy proud!

In my last night in NYC, I met up with my good friend, Jamba, who took me to a delish restaurant called BECCO, which was really close to my hotel.

Then finally, I met up with an old work colleague for drinks at a place called BELMONT LOUNGE. The place was nice enough, but unfortunately the reggae music was too loud to try and have a decent conversation.

A Big Day!!!

Today was my busiest day in NYC...

I started out my day by going to NEVADA SMITHS ("Where Football is Religion!") to meet up with the NEW YORK BLUES to watch Chelsea take on Newcastle. Unfortunately, Chelsea drew 0-0, but I nonetheless had such a cool time meeting fellow Chelsea fanatics.
Then, I met up with AJ and Erik at a really yummy diner called GOOD STUFF DINER.

Afterwards, AJ and I headed to the NEW MUSEUM to see the exhibit that I've been dying to go to: Elizabeth Peyton's LIVE FOREVER. The exhibit exceeded all of my expectations! It was so cool to see Peyton's strokes up close, and the colors are so much vibrant in person.

Then, after the exhibit, AJ and I checked out UNIQLO, which is basically the Japanese Gap. Think any sweater in any style and color you can imagine...

My evening started with a night at the theatre (pronounced thee-AH-Tah). Erik and I saw EQUUS at the Broadhurst Theatre, starring a (nekked) Daniel Radcliffe. I'm not a theatre fan, but I really (and surprisingly) enjoyed this production. Everything was great; the acting, the direction and the set design.

But, my evening didn't end there. I met up with Jed and AJ and headed down to Brooklyn to a craZAY party called RUBULAD. AJ and her pals played a fun super-late-night set with Bruno of THE HOMOSEXUALS! (BTW, in a previous post, I had mistakenly thought that AJ's band LOOKER was going to play).

I've been a bit busy...

I just moved into a bachelorette pad, so I've been neglecting my blog. But, I have lots to talk about (The Olympics, the EPL, movies, music, etc...) and will post some updates soon. By the way, in my search for black and white damask linens for my new boudoir, I came across a fab blog called BLACK AND WHITE DELIGHT. I check it almost everyday now to see what kind of black and white decor items they've found for us.

Saturday Movie Review

The gang and I saw SEX AND THE CITY today, and we loved it! I don't know why it's not getting better reviews 'cause it was so fun! If you're a fan of the TV show, you're going to really enjoy the movie.

Friendship, fashion, laughter and love; you really can't go wrong!

Random LHK News

1) Marat Safin lost to David Ferrer in the 2nd round of the Monte Carlo Masters today; that was a tough draw...

2) The other Champions League semi-final between Manchester United and Barcelona takes place today (on ESPN2 at 11:30am PST). If I had a say, I'd probably rather see Chelsea take on Barcelona in the final 'cause I'm quite sick of Man U.

3) Some random music I've been digging lately:
LOOKER "Gates of the Old City/Help Me Roada" single: Looker - Gates of the Old City / Help Me Roada

DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH? "You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into":

LHK Tennis Update

Defending Champion Novak Djokovic was upset by South African qualifier Kevin Anderson today in the second round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami! I saw Kevin play at this year's Tennis Channel Open, and I'm not utterly shocked that he beat Novak. Kevin is very strong, tall and consistent. He also unfortunately beat my beloved Robby Ginepri at the Tennis Channel Open.

By the way, TV coverage of the Sony Ericsson Open starts tomorrow on FSN.

P.S. How cute is this tennis plaque that I just bought from the Coca-Cola store?!! I obviously dig tennis, and I love Coke products (especially Coke Zero). So, I scored with such an adorable tchotchke.

Coming Soon...

As you may or may not know, prior to this personal blog of mine, my crew and I had a webzine called (what else?) LADY HOOLIGAN, and it was filled with lots of cheekiness and eye-candy (not unlike this blog, I hope).

Unfortunately, our 'zine only lasted a year. But recently, I was approached to do a beverage review, and I thought it would be cool to try and archive some of the product reviews we had in the 'zine for reference. So, I've formed a new post label entitled "LH Webzine Archive", and I have one archived review (of HINT water) in there already. More to come...

Speaking of reviews, feel free to e-mail me if you want me to review any of your products (e.g. music, books, beverages, cosmetics, etc...). Hey, what can I say? I like free stuff, and I'm opinionated.

P.S. Although I really miss the 'zine and although I'd love to archive the whole year of LH fun on this blog, it would be too big of a task, and it just wouldn't be the same. Besides I'm saving the entire archive for a book. Holler, if you know any publishers! Oh, a Lady Hooligan can dream...
