Sophie's Choice

Or should I say KATty's choice!

I just got back from the Marat Safin versus Robby Ginepri match at the LA Tennis Open, and I think I was in a state of shock during the whole match. I've never been so equally enamored with both players on the court to the point where I couldn't cheer for either one of them. I politely clapped for them both, but I didn't have the heart to scream either of their names.

The whole match I was basically thinking these 2 thoughts:

1) This is surreal.

2) I wish I had a better camera.

It was truly a once in a lifetime experience to see my two favorites players play against each other, and I enjoyed every second of the 3-setter! Marat won; 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Tonight's The Night!

Marat Safin takes on Robby Ginepri in the first round of the LA Tennis Open tonight at 7:30pm PST at UCLA.

Pretty vs. Pretty

An LHK dream match-up!

LA Tennis Open

I just got back from the LA Tennis Open at UCLA.

I had the pleasure of seeing Marat Safin take on Pete Sampras in a exhibition match called the Millennium Challenge. Marat won!

Then, I got to see Marat play again in doubles, pairing up with compatriot Igor Kunitsyn and beating the team of Dudi Sela & Marcos Baghdatis in a very exciting 1st round match. Marat won again! YAY!

Soccer & Tennis today (results)

Both Robby Ginepri and Chelsea FC won TITLES today! I'm a very happy camper (and tacos at BT's were the icing).

Oh Captain! My Captain!

John Terry has ended speculation over a potential move away from Stamford Bridge and released a statement saying that he is "totally committed" to Chelsea!

As am I. I love you, John.

Soccer & Tennis today

It's a really good day for LHK sports!

Robby Ginepri is in the FINAL of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships today (on ESPN2 at 12pm PST).

Then,

Chelsea takes on Club America (on ESPN2 at 4pm PST).

LHK Heaven!!!

YOWZA!!! My head and heart are about to explode! Have you seen the draw for the LA Tennis Open?

Marat Safin and Robby Ginepri, my two favorite OG tennis players (Jeremy Chardy is a fairly recent fav), are meeting in the first round! I'm not sure of the exact day and time that they'll be playing, but I WILL be there!

Marat! Robby! UCLA (my alma mater)! Pretty vs. Pretty! Ahhhhhhhhh!

They've only met twice before
(with Robby winning both meetings), but I've never seen them play against each other in the flesh. I can barely contain myself! Not to jinx it, but one of my biggest Lady Hooligan dreams is coming true (please see LH Webzine Archive More Important But: Eye-Candyland)!

I need to breathe.

BTW, congrats to Robby on just recently beating John Isner in the semis of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships. He plays Sam Querrey in the final tomorrow (7/26 on ESPN2 at 12pm PST).

Marat, I'm looking forward to seeing you on Monday night as well when you take on Pete Sampras in the Millennium Challenge (also a part of the LA Tennis Open).

Happy Birthday, Jamba!

Best wishes!

Get well soon, MCA!

Just got this Beastie Boys announcement:

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Yes! Allez, Jeremy!

My beloved Jeremy Chardy won his first ATP title today, beating Victor Hanescu in the final of the Mercedes Cup!!!

I'm so happy for him, and I only wish that the match was televised!

P.S. Jeremy is kind of looking like a foxy Ray LaMontagne, no?

Allez, Jeremy!

Bravo to Jeremy Chardy for reaching the final of the Mercedes Cup in Stuggart! Jeremy is gunning for his 1st ever ATP title, and he takes on Victor Hanescu (who he's beaten before; I witnessed it myself in Indian Wells earlier this year).

Allez, Jeremy!!!

An Extravaganza

Ronz and I attended the Saban Free Clinic's Extravaganza for the Senses tonight at Fox Studios, and it was a lot of fun! The weather was great, as was the music (DJ'd by Scott Silva), food, and wine (our fav was the Broadbent Vinho Verde).

They even had henna tattoo artists there, and I finally got a CFC tattoo that I've been dying to try out (to go along with my newly manicured Chelsea blue nails)! I'm no hand model I know, but I gotz to get ready for the Chelsea boys. I'm seeing them in just 2 days!!!

Bravo, Chelsea!

Chelsea beat the Seattle Sounders 2-0 today! It was a pretty good showing. JT looked lovely as ever, and our new young striker, Daniel Sturridge, was very impressive!

Harry's Potter!

The crew and I continued our years-long tradition of seeing every Harry Potter movie together when we caught HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE today.

I, of course, really liked it, and I knew I would. It's a whole other world and series that I enjoy immensely!

Coming to America!

Chelsea FC has touched down on American soil and have arrived in Seattle for the beginning of their US Summer tour!!! They'll be in L.A. soon next, and I can't wait!!!

Here's their upcoming game schedule:

Saturday, July 18th at the Qwest Field Stadium (Seattle, WA) on ESPN2 at 12pm PST.

Tuesday, July 21 vs. Inter Milan at the Rose Bowl (Pasadena, CA) on ESPN2 at 8pm PST

Friday, July 24 vs. AC Milan at M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore, MD) on ESPN at 5pm

Sunday, July 26 vs. Club America at Cowboy Stadium (Arlington, TX) on ESPN2 at 4pm PST
P.S. And YES, John Terry is here with the squad too despite rumors that he may be transferred to Manchester CITY!

Music Update

YOWZA! In the past 2 days, I've been really lucky in finding awesome music that I'm completely digging!

Yesterday, I bought the debut cd from DISCOVERY, the duo made up of Rostam Batmanglij (from Vampire Weekend) and Wes Miles (from Ra Ra Riot). They sound like an R&B version of Crystal Castles; a very fun album!

And today, after a really long absence, I logged onto MySpace and heard a new song from one of my favorite English rappers, Kano. Well, he's featured on a Chase and Status track called "Against All Odds" that's actually not so new. Apparently, the album it's from, MORE THAN A LOT, came out last year in the UK.

Oh well, better late than never. AND, the whole fabulous album is only $5.99 (USD) on iTunes.
Chase & Status - More Than Alot

Check it, Fools!

Live Music

I saw my friends' band KILL KILL KILL tonight at The Smell. Check their shite out!

Saturday, July 11, 2009

The Galaxy

I cheered on the Los Angeles Galaxy tonight against their hometown rivals Chivas USA. David Beckham isn't officially back with the squad until Monday, but it was nice to see (Becks' teammate and biggest critic recently) Landon Donovan back in the action. The Galaxy thankfully won 1-0, and apparently Becks and his guest, (soccer god!) Zinedine Zidane, were in a luxury suite at the stadium watching the game.

Saturday Movie Review

I saw BRUNO mit Billy and RD today, and it was crazy and hilarious as expected! Sacha Baron Cohen is ridiculous, and be forewarned that this movie is WAY raunchier than Borat.

Happy Birthday, Mickey!

I wish you all the best!

P.S. Check out Mickey's SYSTEM OF STRENGTH program.

Live Music

Hillzie and I caught The Old 97's last night at the Music Box. The foxy Rhett Miller opened for his own band, performing his solo work. It was a fun show, and Rhett is beyond cute!

But, I seriously could have done without the opening opening act, Murry Hammond, the bass player for the band. His set was pure torture and beyond boring.

Thankfully, Rhett has charisma to spare; check him out:

P.S. I promise that's not me that you can hear singing along...

Sunday Movie Review

The ladies and I saw a matinee of CHERI today. Overall, it was pretty good (nothing to rush out to), but the set design, costumes and Rupert Friend were just delicious!

I'm done with Wimbledon...

Well, for this year at least. I'll record and fast-forward through both of the upcoming women's and men's Wimbledon finals this weekend, but I could care less about any of the players in them.

Friday Movie Review

Yay! I'm so excited I had a Friday off and got to go to the movies like the good old days!

The crew and I saw PUBLIC ENEMIES today. I wasn't expecting much, as I'm not a big gangster movie fan. But, I'll see anything that Johnny Depp is in, and he did not disappoint! He's wonderful as per usual.

Overall, the movie was beautifully shot in high def digital, and I enjoyed the soundtrack. But, the movie was a little long for my taste, and some of the performances weren't that appealing (e.g. Christian Bale). However, Marion Cotillard was very good, except for her distracting French/Midwest/Navajo/Challenged accent.

I'd recommend the flick for the sole reason of seeing Johnny Depp on the big screen.

LHK Tennis Update

1) BO-ring! The Williams sisters will face each other again in the Wimbledon final.

2) The Wimbledon men's semi-finals are today, and I'm rooting for Andy Murray to win it all! Come on, Andy!

Farewell, Conner

My tennis coach of 4+ years and the Sept. '06 Lady Hooligan cover model, Conner (aka Connz aka CK) is leaving Los Angeles, and my Wednesday nights will strangely be open now.

Good luck with everything, Connz! We'll miss you and your Connerisms very much!
