1) Unfortunately, both Robby Ginepri and Marat Safin, lost in the 2nd round of the U.S. Open. Sniff, sniff...

LHK U.S. Open update

1) EYE-CANDY ALERT: Marat Safin takes on Tommy Robredo in second-round U.S. Open action today!

2) Robby Ginperi is also in the second-round, taking on Marin Cilic today.

Good luck to both of my gorgeous BELOVEDS!

Hey Now!

Michael Phelps is set to host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on Sept. 13th!! Can't wait to see that!

P.S. Robby Ginepri won his first-round match at the U.S. Open today; yay!

LHK U.S. Open update

Marat Safin won his first-round match against Vincent Spadea yesterday. It was a long five-set match with some random foot fault calls against Marat that really pissed him off, but thankfully he prevailed.

My other beloved, Robby Ginperi, takes on Amer Delic in first-round action today. If you can catch coverage of this match on the USA network, it should be a good eye-candy one.

P.S. Marat was of course looking so foxy during the opening ceremonies of the U.S. Open on Monday night.

LHK Weekend Round-Up

1) The gals and I went to Sunset Junction on Saturday night. We had a really fun time partying with Mr. Anatomy (the male model painted to look like one of specimens from the BODY WORLDS exhibit; pics to come shortly), and we also stumbled upon a super-cool Reggaeton artist named NOTCH! Check his music out:
Notch - Raised By the People

2) Chelsea are at the top of the EPL with a hard-fought win 1-0 over Wigan today!

P.S. The U.S. Open starts TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!

LHK Sporting News

It wasn't the best of days in LHK sports:

1) Robby Ginepri lost in the third round of the Pilot Pen today; just one day before the tourney starts airing on TV; ARGH!!!!

2) England narrowly tied the Czech Republic 2-2 today in a pre-World-Cup qualification warm-up match.

The only positive today really was this shirtless pic of Becks:

England Friendly

England takes on the Czech Republic today in a warm-up game before World Cup qualification. My beloved John Terry has the captain's armband back and will be leading the English squad (12pm PST on FSC).

LHK (catch-up) Sporting News

SO MUCH has been going on, but here are the biggies:

1) First and foremost, (as you all know) the supernatural Michael Phelps has finally reached legend status by winning 8 gold medals in Beijing! It was super-exciting to watch all of his races, and I can't thank all of the Olympic male swimmers enough for providing SO MUCH eye-candy this summer.

2) The English Premier League is back! Chelsea played their first game against Portsmouth this past Sunday and won 4-0, playing with such great style! They're on top of the league, where they should stay. Come on, Chelsea!

3) Speaking of Chelsea, my beloved John Terry has been named captain of England (again) ahead of their game against the Czech Republic this Wednesday. Fabio Capello has made a wise and excellent choice in picking JT; actually THE ONLY choice in my book.

4) In tennis news, Rafa Nadal won the gold medal in men's tennis in Beijing and now is also #1 in the ATP rankings! Bravo, Rafa, you deserve it! Check Rafa out in the current New York Magazine too (thanks to Kennethinthe212 for the link).

Weekend Movie Update

Bill and I saw the trifecta of movies this weekend; Pineapple Express, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Step Brothers. The first two flicks were really good and the third was just ok.

James Franco was hilarious and delicious as a pot-dealer with a heart of gold in Pineapple Express. It's just always so enjoyable to his pretty face on screen. Speaking of Mr. Franco, he's on the cover of the Sept. '08 GQ. Yummy!

Penelope Cruz surprised me in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. I'm not usually a big fan of hers, but she was good in this one. And, of course, the gorgeous Catalan sights and scenery in the movie made me want to go to Barcelona more than ever now.

Finally, although Step Brothers had some huge laughs, it was pretty bad overall (gotta love that movie poster though).

I've been a bit busy...

I just moved into a bachelorette pad, so I've been neglecting my blog. But, I have lots to talk about (The Olympics, the EPL, movies, music, etc...) and will post some updates soon. By the way, in my search for black and white damask linens for my new boudoir, I came across a fab blog called BLACK AND WHITE DELIGHT. I check it almost everyday now to see what kind of black and white decor items they've found for us.

1) Marat Safin has dropped out of the Legg Mason Classic in DC due to a neck injury. Feel better soon, Marat!

2) Lamps is staying! Chelsea has signed Frank Lampard to a 5-year contract extension! YAY!!!!

3) After unfortunately losing in the first round of the Olympics, Robby Ginepri has fortunately received a wild card into the Pilot Pen (the last tourney before the U.S. Open).

4) And yummy American Olympic swimmers; Grrrr....

Happy Birthday, John!!

CHEERS to YOU!

I'm just loving the Andy Stedman single "Middle of the Sea" that came out a couple of weeks ago actually.
Andy Stedman - Middle of the Sea - Single

A couple of interesting dvds are out too:

LHK Sporting News

1) Robby Ginepri lost to Novak Djokovic in the first round of the Olympics.

2) Juan Martin del Potro upset Andy Roddick yesterday in the final of the Countrywide Classic in Los Angeles. Excellent playing, Juan Martin!

3) The U.S. Mens Olympic 4x100 relay team beat France in an AMAZING race that I could just watch over and over.

LHK Sporting News

1) Bravo to Michael Phelps on winning his first 2008 Olympic gold medal and setting a world record in the 400 IM!

2) Speaking of the Olympics, Ana Ivanovic, the top seed in the women's tennis event, has withdrawn with an injury to her right-hand.

3) With the English Premier League 2008-2009 season starting this coming weekend, I'll be doing some research in order to see if any changes need to be made to my TOP 5 Hottest Playaz from last season. I'll, of course, keep you posted...

4) Speaking of English football, the Community Shield went to penalty kicks today with Manchester United (boo! spit! boo!) winning on penalty kicks (3-1) over (better-looking) Portsmouth. Oh, for fok's sake; here's hoping Man U's success ENDS TODAY!

Saturday, August 9, 2008

(Real) Football!

The 2008-2009 EPL is almost here! As a little tease, we have the FA Community Shield tomorrow (Sunday, August 10th at 7am PST on FSC) with Manchester United (boo! spit! boo!) taking on Portsmouth. Go Pompey!

Friday, August 8, 2008

Oh, Marat!

Marat Safin lost in the quarters of the Countrywide Classic today in 3 sets against Denis Gremelmayr. Marat was doing really well in the first set but just lost his mojo in the second. He also had a pretty scary spill when Gremelmayr hit a shot behind him. Anyway, I took my 4 1/2 year old niece with me for her first ever live pro tennis match! I was pretty much in heaven watching Marat and also spending quality time with my niece (who kept calling Marat, "MaraFsafin"; with an "F" and one word). SO CUTE; the both of them!

P.S. It goes without saying that I'm available to be Marat's towel-lady.

LHK Sporting News; a lucky day 08/08/08!!

1) As you know, the 2008 Summer Olympic Games start today! The Opening Ceremony airs on NBC tonight starting at 7pm PST.

2) Chelsea have made a bid for Real Madrid's Robinho; fingers crossed!

3) Speaking of the Olympics AND Chelsea, a beautiful photograph of a Frank Lampard corner-kick (entitled "Sun Lamp") is being displayed at an exhibit in Beijing.

4) The crew and I went to the Countrywide Classic last night at UCLA. We had a lot of fun in the "hospitality tents" before settling in to watch the matches. We saw Andy Roddick take on Dusan Vemic, and then John McEnroe vs. Mikael Pernfors.

Oh, and we also met Justin Gimelstob and Donald Young at the College Alumni Reception. We were a little hesitant about meeting Justin Gimelstob because of his recent derogatory comments about Anna Kournikova, but Donald Young seemed like a lovely lad.

Speaking of the Countrywide, the quarterfinals take place today. I'm contemplating whether to go or not. I really haven't seen Marat Safin live this year, and I missed his matches on Tuesday and Wednesday; blah, blah, blah...

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Yay! Marat won today!

Marat Safin won his second-round match today and has made it into the quarters of the Countrywide Classic. Unfortunately, his potential (and foxy) quarterfinal opponent, Feliciano Lopez, lost his match today. Oh, what a yummy eye-candy match that would have been!!

In any case, I hope to be there on Friday to cheer Marat on!

LHK Tennis Update

Yay! Marat Safin won his first-round match yesterday at the Countrywide Classic at UCLA, beating John Isner in 2 sets. BOOOOOO to my job however 'cause I couldn't get out early enough to catch the late afternoon match! Where are my priorities?

New Music Tuesday

There are 2 new free downloads that I'm very happy to announce:

1) Keane's "Spiralling"; free through August 11th; sounds quite 80's!

2) "The Escapist" by The Streets; I blogged about the video last week.

Other cool releases this week:

P.S. Hillz and I saw the Flight of the Conchords in concert this past Saturday at Largo; those fellas are so hillarious!

Sunday, August 3, 2008

Congrats, Lady Sophie!

Congrats to Lady Sophie and her fam on the birth of baby Lucas (born Wednesday, July 30th)! It's very exciting to have another tennis/soccer hooligan in our crew!

LHK Tennis Update

1) Andy Murray won his first Masters Series title today beating Novak Jokovic in Cincinnati.

2) Dinara Safina has won back-to-back tournaments! Today, she beat Dominika Cibulkova in the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

3) On tap this week in the U.S. Open Series, the fellas of the ATP are in my hometown, LOS ANGELES! The Countrywide Classic is taking place (at my alter mater) UCLA this week, and I really hope that I get to see Marat Safin play. He plays his first round match on Tuesday against John Isner, but it's during the day session; argh! Looks like I need to try and take a long lunch that day... OHHH... What I do for eye-candy!

Friday, August 1, 2008

Ooh-OOH!

Rafa Nadal is guaranteed to become the World's #1 with his win today at the Cincinatti Masters, kicking Roger Federer to the curb. BRAVO, RAFA!

More Important But...

(It's been a while since I've used this) I know there are more important things in the world, BUT...

1) KEANE's new album "Perfect Symmetry" is due out on October 13, 2008! I can't wait! I read that they are currently in Los Angeles finishing it up.

If you're a tennis playa in the L.A. area, keep your eyes out on the courts for the band 'cause they're playaz too! I saw them once at La Cienega and completely spazzed out! I wrote about the incident for the (now defunct) LH webzine in an article entitled "Lady Hooligan Points".

2) NERD ALERT: J.K. Rowling's new book "The Tales of the Beetle the Bard" is now available for pre-order. It's definitely going on my Amazon wish list (hint, hint).
