The Streets
Check out the new Streets track and video THE ESCAPIST. The song is a bit of departure for Mike Skinner, but I'm really looking forward to the new album!

Oh, Robby!
Robby Ginepri almost beat Roger Federer in their 2nd-round match at the Cincinatti Masters today. Gineps had match-point against Roger but couldn't close it out; argh!!!
Oh well... I guess Robby can now focus on his preparations for the Summer Olympics. Good luck, Playa!

LHK Tennis Update
1) Unfortunately, Marat Safin lost to Dmitry Tursunov in the first round of the Cincinatti Masters.
2) But, Robby Ginepri spanked Jonas Bjorkman (6-0, 7-6) to set up a second round clash with Roger Federer today. Both Gineps and Federer are actually coached by Jose Higueras. So, let's just hope that this coaching conflict of interest adds to Federer's troubles. Go, Robby!

LHK Tennis Update
The U.S. Open Series continues...
In the first round of the Cincinatti Masters today, Robby Ginepri takes on ATP veteran, Jonas Bjorkman. BTW, if Gineps wins, he meets Roger Federer in the 2nd-round. Argh, why does he get the lamest draws?!
And, Marat Safin takes on fellow Russian, Dmitry Turnsunov; not a bad eye-candy match-up...
Coverage starts at 8am PST on Tennis Channel.

Saturday Movie Review(s)
Bill, Raff and I caught MAMMA MIA, and it wasn't too shabby. The singing wasn't great (Pierce Brosnan's voice made Raff scream), but the movie was kind of fun (Meryl Streep is always great, of course).
There was also a nice amount of eye-candy (both young and old-er). The 3 male leads (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard) were in surprisingly good shape, and the lad who plays the groom, Dominic Cooper, is delightful SANS shirt. Speaking of Dominic, I had to look his credits up 'cause I couldn't remember where I had seen him before. Ah yes, he was also in the adorable flick, THE HISTORY BOYS.
Anyway, you can judge the MAMMA MIA soundtrack for yourself:
P.S. I just got back from seeing XANADU at the Angel City Drive-In. Now, that's what I call a soundtrack!

LHK Tennis Update
So, Marat Safin and Robby Ginepri have been out of the Rogers Cup in Toronto for a couple of days now. They're both scheduled to play in the Cincinnati Masters next, and Marat is scheduled to play the Countrywide Classic in Los Angeles (my hometown) afterwards at the beginning of August. I can't wait to see him here!
With that, I wanted to share this recent ATP spotlight on Marat that I found:

MLS All-Stars
The MLS All-Stars (including Sweet Cheeks David Beckham) will be taking on West Ham United of the English Premier League tonight. I'm not sure if FOXY Freddie Ljungberg, who plays for West Ham, will also be on the pitch. But, if he does play, it should make for quite a pretty game. The MLS All-Star game airs on ESPN at 4pm PST.

Marat Safin won his second round match at the Rogers Cup today, but Robby Ginepri lost his. So, I'm in a half-YAY/half-BOO situation here...
P.S. Unfortunately, I'm not going to make it to the East West Bank Tennis Classic at the Home Depot Center this week. But, I highly recommend checking it out if you can.

JT still haunted...
John Terry is still haunted by his Champions League penalty kick miss but hopes Chelsea's new manager, Scolari, can help the club win some trophies and ease the pain.
I feel the same way. May 21, 2008 was one of the worst and saddest days of my life and also in Chelsea's history. But, I still worship JT and can only hope for better days for Chelsea.
So, with that, here's my first (pre-season) COME ON, CHELSEA!!!

The Duke Spirit
I checked out The Duke Spirit last night at the Hammer Museum, and they put on a really good show. Lead singer, Liela (sic), who has such a cool voice, was wearing quite the get-up; a black unitard with a purple knit bib/cape over it & accessorized with some black feathers!?!?
Anyway, their latest album, NEPTUNE,is fantastic, and they're doing another free show at Amoeba Records (Hollywood) on July 28th. Make sure to check them out!

Emmy Nods
The nominees for the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced. I'm rooting for my usuals; the folks from 30 Rock and The Office. However, the tough decision is going to be in the brand spankin' new category: Best Reality Show Host.
Is the Academy serious? In any case, the show airs on ABC on Sept. 21st.

The U.S. Open Series!
The U.S. Open Series starts today!! This series of hard-court tennis tournaments across North America leads up to the U.S. Open itself and starts off with the Indianapolis Tennis Championships and the Bank of the West Classic this week.
My beloved Robby Ginepri will be back in action and takes on Paul Capdeville today in Indy. Go, Robby!
I'm definitely planning to check out the tournaments in the series that are here in Southern California, starting with the East West Bank Classic and then the Countrywide Classic (at my alma mater, UCLA); I can't wait!
Make sure to get your TENNIS TICKETS too!!

Very Nice!
I GOTZ to get me to a newsstand and pick a copy of the August 2008 Men's Journal! Foxy (and shirtless) Olympic swimmers, Michael Phelps (who bears a slight resemblance to my tennis coach, Connz) and Ryan Lochte are on the cover.
Those torsos just KILL me! Dah-YAMN!
(Thanks for the heads-up, Kenneth).

Happy Birthday, Lady Stacy!
Cheers to YOU!
Bar 107 (where we went to celebrate Lady Stacy's b-day last night) is having their 3rd anniversary today too. Quite an interesting place, I must say... I would't make a special trip downtown to go there again, but if you happen to be around that area (4th and Main St.), it's a pretty cool dive bar to check out. Hopefully, they won't let a dog on the bar when you visit...

Oh, Marat!
Well, my beloved Marat Safin had a few chances, but Roger Federer ended up beating him in 3 sets in today's semi-final Wimbledon match-up. Well, at least Marat can NOW say that he's made it to the semi-finals of all fours slams.
Marat, it was a wonderful Wimbledon run, and you know that I'm available for hugs anytime...
Federer will be taking on Rafa Nadal next in the championship match on Sunday. VAMOS, RAFA!

Friday Movie Review
The crew and I saw WANTED today. It was very violent, action-packed and preposterous (in a laugh-out-loud kind of way). But, at least, James McAvoy and the villain, Thomas Kretschmann, provided a little eye-candy.
Ooooh and speaking of preposterous action mixed in with a little candy, we saw a trailer for an upcoming Jason Statham movie called DEATH RACE!
P.S. Happy 4th of July!

Some major sporting events are taking place tomorrow to kick off the long 4th of July holiday weekend:
1) The Wimbledon Men's Semi-Finals; Marat Safin versus Roger Federer AND Rafa Nadal versus Rainer Shuettler (coverage starts at 4am PST on ESPN2). Lady Lorelei and I concur that a Marat-Rafa sandwich would make an IDEAL (and delicious) FINAL!
2) Then, at 8pm on ABC, tune into the Olympic Swimming trials. I only got three words for you: 1)Michael 2)Phelps 3)Speedo!

Play is currently suspended at Wimbledon due to rain. Hopefully, this weather-break will only help Marat Safin 'cause he was trailing Feliciano Lopez 2-5 in the opening set of their quarterfinal match-up.

Eye-Candy ALERT!
This is an EXTREME eye-candy alert:
Marat Safin versus Feliciano Lopez in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon!! Coverage of the quarters starts at 4am PST on Wed. July 2nd on ESPN2.
In my book, this match-up is ALMOST as delicious as a Marat versus Gineps one.
P.S. Happy Birthday to Debbie Harry; you're a goddess!
