Suck it, Liverpool!!!

Bravo Chelsea on beating Liverpool and making it to our first ever Champions League FINAL!!!! To quote my friend and fellow Chelsea fanatic, Ivan, "That's why we're Champions!!"

The Champions!

Words cannot express my feelings today as Chelsea takes on Liverpool in the (unbelievably important) 2nd-leg of their Champions League semi-final match (kick off at 11:45am PST on ESPN2). All I can say is
COME ON, CHELSEA!
and...

I love you, John Terry!

LHK Tennis Update

1) Apparently, Rafa Nadal won the doubles title in Monte Carlo too (along with his partner, the equally gorgeous, Tommy Robredo). Now, that's quite the foxy dream-team, and I can only imagine how distracting they would be to play against!

2) Unfortunately, Robby Ginepri lost in the first round of the Barcelona Open, which started today.

Random LHK News

1) Bravo to Rafa Nadal for beating Roger Federer (again) in the Monte Carlo Masters today and making history as well by becoming the only player to win the tourney 4 times in a row!

2) The crew and I saw BABY MAMA yesterday, and it was pretty much what I expected; funny and cute (but no fall out of your chair laughs). A hearty CONGRATS to the LADIES for hitting #1 at the box office!

3) Speaking of flicks, we're going to a catch-up movie today: BANK JOB. It was never at the top of our list, but we love us some Jason Statham.

4) NOT THE FACE! My beloved Freddie Ljungberg was injured yesterday in West Ham's game against Newcastle. Poor baby!

5) It's looking like the adorable Jimmy Fallon will officially be replacing Conan O'Brien in 2009! I can't wait!

BRAVO, CHELSEA (on beating Man U today 2-1)!!!!

Chelsea and Candy

I only want to report on two of my favorite topics today (Chelsea and Candy):

1) Chelsea has a HUGE game tomorrow versus Manchester United. (Sat. 4/26 on Setanta at 4:30 am PST)
COME ON, CHELSEA!

2) Madonna's new album, HARD CANDY, was released early on MySpace today. Check it out!

Thursday, April 24, 2008

My deepest condolences...

to Chelsea midfielder, Frank Lampard, on the passing of his dear Mum.

Lamps, I'm so sorry for your loss and send you and your family my best wishes from Los Angeles.

Weezah!

The new Weezer single "Pork and Beans" is out today! Weezer - Pork and Beans - Single
Oooh, how very Steel Magnolias...

Random LHK News

1) Marat Safin lost to David Ferrer in the 2nd round of the Monte Carlo Masters today; that was a tough draw...

2) The other Champions League semi-final between Manchester United and Barcelona takes place today (on ESPN2 at 11:30am PST). If I had a say, I'd probably rather see Chelsea take on Barcelona in the final 'cause I'm quite sick of Man U.

3) Some random music I've been digging lately:
LOOKER "Gates of the Old City/Help Me Roada" single: Looker - Gates of the Old City / Help Me Roada

DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH? "You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into":

4) I just bought some super-cute jewelry pieces from my friend's fab line, burgerlove; check them out.

Suck it, Liverpool!!

BRAVO, CHELSEA (on getting that important away goal at Anfield today)!!!!!

The Champions!

Today IS Super Tuesday! Chelsea takes on Liverpool in the first leg of their semi-final UEFA Champions League clash (live on ESPN2 at 11:30am PST).

We're hell-bent on revenge, and we want a place in the final! Look out, Laddie McFresh!

COME ON, CHELSEA!!!!!!

P.S. I love you, John Terry!

BTW, nice dubz playing on Saturday.

P.S. #1 This is the only cd I'm interested in today:

#2 HAPPY EARTH DAY too!

Random LHK News

1) Bravo to Danica Patrick for becoming the first female winner in IndyCar race history! Go, Lady!

2) The Monte Carlo Master Series starts tomorrow (well, tonight at 1am on Tennis Channel). It should be an exciting tourney. Marat Safin got a wild card into the tournament, and Rafa Nadal could become the first player in history to win it 4 times in row.

3) The gang and I had a lovely brunch today in San Juan Capistrano at a sweet little place called The Ramos House Cafe. If you're that area, I'd recommend it.

TOP 5 CHANGE!!

Emergency news (well, more like MIB aka "More Important But"): I've made a change to my Top 5 Hottest Playaz in the EPL list! Steven Gerrard, captain of Liverpool, is officially off my list! He doesn't deserve to be on the list, especially ahead of Chelsea's Champions League clash against Liverpool on Tuesday.

I don't care if the Chelsea manager, Avram Grant, is interested in "acquiring" Gerrard. I should never have had the Liverpool captain on THE LIST.

Speaking of the list, I've also removed Bobby Convey (U.S./Reading) just 'cause, but I'll be keeping Harry Kewell on the list. Even though Harry's on the Liverpool squad, he hasn't played much this season, and he's a cute Aussie. Hopefully, he won't be involved in any Champions League action...

Russell Brand

Now I'm quite intrigued with Russell Brand, and I did a little more research on him. He's apparently quite popular in the UK; he's got a radio show on BBC2 (check out the podcast) and a couple of books published too (one's a memoir and one's about football; he's a West Ham fan).
BBC Radio 2 - Russell Brand - Russell Brand

So, keep your eye out for him in the States. Among other projects, he's working on another Judd Apatow film with my beloved Jonah Hill!

Saturday Movie Review

Bill and I just got back from seeing FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, and I'm happy to report that it's hilarious! It's definitely worth seeing. I especially loved the performances of Jonah Hill (obviously), Russell Brand (the foxy English comedian), and Paul Rudd (always cute and funny).

The soundtrack is a hoot too! Check out the Hawaiian covers of "Nothing Compares 2 U" and "These Boots are Made for Walkin'".

Friday Movie Review

Well actually last night, I saw BRA BOYS, the documentary about the infamous Australian surf gang. It wasn't the best film-making in the world (the direction was cheezy and the point-of-view was severely one-sided), BUT Dr. Lee and I really did enjoy the footage of the big-wave surfing and cute fellas. And, I must admit the overall story of the Abberton brothers and their bond was quite touching.

I can't wait to see FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL tomorrow; you know I love me some Jonah Hill!

P.S. Chelsea won their game versus Everton yesterday, so we're still in it to win it, baby!

Thursday, April 17, 2008

LHK Sporting News

1) Chelsea takes on Everton today in a MUST-WIN game IF they want any chance of winning the EPL title (on Setanta at 12pm PST). Such stress!
COME ON, CHELSEA!

2) Marat Safin takes on Robin Haase today in the 2nd round of the Valencia Open. Vamos, Marat!

3) Bravo to Croatian tennis fox, Mario Ancic, for earning his law degree this week! I'd love to read his thesis on the ATP once it's translated into English.

Monday, April 14, 2008

LHK Sporting News

1) Robby Ginepri just lost in the first round of the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship. Poor Gineps! His coach just shacked up with Roger Federer and now this...

2) AND... (I can barely type this) Chelsea DREW Wigan today 1-1. I'm gutted, and I wish I could stop caring!!

Happy Birthday, Todd!

CHEERS to you! The next time you're in L.A., we need to go for a pint and then karaoke some Celine!

Sunday, April 13, 2008

LHK Sporting News

1) Argh! Arsenal lost to Man U today, which isn't the help that Chelsea needed from Arsenal in their EPL title race.

2) Fortunately, Chelsea have a game in hand and play Wigan tomorrow (April 14th on Setanta at 11am PST).

3) Congrats to the U.S. Davis Cup team on beating France in the quarterfinals today! AND, good luck to them in the semi-finals against Spain in September (in Spain on clay)!

4) Speaking of tennis, slumping champion Roger Federer has enlisted the help of Jose Higueras, who up until this weekend was coaching my beloved Robby Ginepri. What the hell, Roger?

Random LHK News

1) Just got back from seeing STREET KINGS. It was pretty bad, and we actually left about a half-hour in and got a refund (sorry, Slaters). Well, at least, we saw Keanu looking foxy in his cop uniform.

2) If you're a Pete Yorn fan, he has a new song up on iTunes. "Old Boy" is a part of the Green Owl compilation, with proceeds going towards "Energy Action".
Pete Yorn - The Green Owl Comp: A Benefit for the Energy Action Coalition - Old Boy

3) BIG GAME tomorrow: Arsenal vs. Manchester United (Sunday, April 13th on FSC at 8am PST). As a Chelsea FC fan, I'll be rooting EXTREMELY hard for the Gunners!

4) Bill's sister Lori is selling some fun bracelets on Etsy; check them out!

5) I've tried a couple more new flavored waters.

- BORBA has that fancy skin care line of flavored water out now, which is like VitaminWater (but without the calories, sugar and carbs). I tried the Pomegranate Clarifying flavor, which was delicious. But, at $3.50 a bottle, I don't think I'll be buying much of it.

- In it's place, just try the Whole Foods 365 brand Strawberry Lemon Sparkling Mineral Water. Lady Stacy turned me on to it, and it's really lovely and refreshing!

6) RANDOM! Arctic Monkeys covering Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good"; love it!

7) The OC Weekly printed my little comment about the EJL article I had mentioned last week; thanks for the heads-up, Dogg!

LHK Tennis Update

Meyowza! Robby Ginepri and other foxy tennis lads are all dolled up in the current issue of OCEAN DRIVE magazine. (Thanks to Erwin for the heads-up).

Speaking of tennis, Davis Cup quarterfinal action starts today. The U.S. will take on France (coverage starts at 10am on Versus), and Russia (featuring the lovely Marat Safin on the squad) takes on the Czech Republic.

More Important But...

I know there are more important things in the world, but...

1) Chelsea thankfully won their Champions League quarterfinal against Fenerbache on Tuesday! They will meet Liverpool (again!) in the semi-finals. Now, I will NOT speak of specific past Liverpudlian atrocities against us on this blog, but all I can say is that I look forward to Chelsea's sweet revenge on their way to the Champions League final. Ya hear me, Laddie McFresh!

2) On a similar note, bravo to the Wimbledon Chief for encouraging soccer to embrace technology the way that the sport of tennis has...

3) What do you think of the new Madonna single "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake? Of course, I bought it, but I'm sort of getting annoyed with Timbaland's production style. In any case, I'm looking forward to hearing the other songs (with other producers) on her new album Hard Candy(which comes out on April 29th).
Madonna - 4 Minutes (feat. Justin Timberlake) - Single - 4 Minutes

4) I went to a friend's b-day dinner the other night at a chic new place in WeHo called Palihouse (a boutique extended stay hotel). We dined in the hotel's brasserie, and overall, it was okay (but a tad pricey). I'd still recommended checking the place out though, at least for drinks and snacks at the bar. The fries are delicious, and the cocktail menu is surprisingly unique (being the Anglophile that I am, I loved the "Pimm's Cup" drink).

The Prince of Persia!

There's a showbiz rumor going around that Orlando Bloom is going to star in a movie trilogy called THE PRINCE OF PERSIA (based on a popular video game)! Hmmm...

You know, years ago, when I saw Orlando's "Kingdom of Heaven" with my Dad (it's a two-birds/one-stone situation to combine an eye-candy/action flick with the Pops), he did say that Orlando look liked all the boys in Iran. I, of course, laughed off my Dad's comment at the time, but now I'm thinking "Sign me up!"

The Champions!

Chelsea takes on Fenerbahce in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final match-up (on Setanta at 11:30am PST). Thankfully, this game is at home at Stamford Bridge.
COME ON, CHELSEA!

New Music (&DVD) Tuesday

First of all, I just wanted to mention a song that I'm really digging lately by The Raveonettes called "You Want the Candy" from their most current album Lust Lust Lust. It's definitely going in my collection of "pretty"/"baby"/"candy"/"lady" songs.
The Raveonettes - Lust Lust Lust - You Want the Candy

As far as new releases, some of the albums below have already been released digitally, but the physical CD comes out today.

Review Round-Up

First of all, a hearty congrats to Nikolay Davydenko on winning the Sony Ericsson Open today and beating Andy Roddick and Rafa Nadal along the way (sorry, Lady Lorelei).

Okay so, I've been accumulating several reviews that I've been wanting to share with y'all, and I thought I'd just put them in one post:

1) First and foremost, I'd like to introduce you to TWIST water, a new all natural flavored water with only 10 calories per serving and no preservatives. As you may know, my tennis nickname is "Twisty", so of course, I really dig the name of this product. But in addition to the cute name and company motto ("As in life, chill for best results."), I really like the variety of exotic flavors that this water comes in (mango acai, pomegranate blueberry, and mandarin white tea to name a few). All of my friends who have tried TWIST agree that the subtle flavors are delicious and refreshing. My favorite flavor BY FAR is the organic West Indies Lime, and although I wish it didn't have the 2 grams of sugar (aka organic agave nectar) per serving in it, I'm seriously on the hunt for more of it (maybe 'cause it reminds me of a healthy water version of a Cuba Libre?). TWIST is sold at select Ralphs and Whole Foods, so keep your eye out for it. I recommend it, and YES, it's LADY HOOLIGAN APPROVED!

2) Last week, Bill and I finally got back to our movie-going and saw STOP-LOSS (starring Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum, Abbie Cornish and Joseph Gordon-Levitt). Overall, it was a decent flick. THE PROS: (obviously) the eye-candy, Ryan and Joseph's impressive performances, fellow tennis playa Timothy Olyphant is in it, and the general awareness-raising on the horrendous stop-loss policy of the U.S. military. THE CONS: not understanding Abbie's Texan accent, some music-video-style direction (well, it's a MTV Films co-production after all), some general cheeziness and (for me, not Bill) not enough perspective on the Middle-Eastern view on the U.S. occupation of Iraq.

3) Recently, some folks from work and I had lunch at a cute and casual sidewalk cafe called PRANA (located on the corner La Cienega and Melrose Place, adjacent to its sister restaurant/club, Republic). It's open for breakfast and lunch, and the food is delicious. In addition to yummy soups and paninis, they have Cap'n Crunch coated deep-fried brioche french toast! I really recommend this place because the food is so much better and about the same price than most of those crowded and somewhat overrated cafes on 3rd Street (e.g. TOAST).

4) Finally, back on the movie tip (yes, I still use 90's hip-hop lingo), Bill, Lady Stacy and I saw LEATHERHEADS today. As you may know, I'm a big John Krasinski (from "The Office") fan. So, I only wanted to see this because of him, and Bill and Lady Stacy both dig George Clooney. But, although it was lovely to see John Krasinki smiling on the big screen, I thought the movie was kind of boring, hokey and slightly lame. So, if you want to see it at all, perhaps just rent it?

Biggies of the Day

2) Sony Ericsson Open Women's Final featuring Serena Williams vs. Jelena Jankovic (9am PST on CBS)

3) UCLA vs. Memphis in the semi-final of the NCAA Men's College Basketball Championship (3pm PST on CBS)

Dare I even utter my hopes for the winners? Yes, I do: Chelsea FC, Jelena, and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, U....C....L....A, UCLA, FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

The Fellas!

I'm very happy to report that two of my close pals (both excellent tennis playaz) have some new online links (and hijinks) for everyone to check out:

1) Rob, a fabulous actor and the FIRST EVER Lady Hooligan cover model (back in June '06) has his own brand-new website. He's an absolute DOLL!!

2) DJ extraordinaire, EJL (aka Dogg), is the subject of a glowing and well-deserved article in the OC Weekly!

P.S. The adorable John Krasinski (of THE OFFICE and LEATHERHEADS) is on Conan O'Brien tonight!

New Music (&DVD) Tuesday

Okay, this isn't an April Fool's Day joke; I have jury duty today; argh!!

Anywhoo...

On the digital album front, make sure to check out Nancy Sinatra's new collection of classic tunes called "Kid Stuff". Of course, one of my favorite songs on the album is "Lady Bird".
