LHK (catch-up) Sporting News

1) Spain beat Germany yesterday in the Euro 2008 final. I'm sort of indifferent about the result. It's a bummer that Michael Ballack (who plays for Germany and Chelsea) wasn't able to capture yet another major trophy (despite bleeding for his team), but I'm fairly happy for Spain for finally winning something after underachieving for so many years.

2) Marat Safin takes on Stanislas Wawrwinka today in the 4th Round at Wimbledon. If I'm not mistaken, Wawrinka ousted both Marat and Robby Ginepri in last year's U.S. Open. It goes without saying that I hope Marat BEATS him!

3) Speaking of Robby Ginepri, he's made it onto the 2008 U.S. Olympic tennis squad! I'm very happy for him; he deserves it!

4) Chelsea have signed Portugeezer midfielder, DECO, to the squad. Hmm....

5) Last but not least, another one of my beloveds, Freddie Ljungberg, has retired from the Swedish national team.

Quick LHK update

Hi all,

First and foremost, I wanted to report that my beautiful baby niece, Camille, was born yesterday (literally). My fam and I are so excited, and I've been happily busy looking after Camille's older sister (my first niece) Sofia.

I just got home to take a quick shower and peek online.

Wow, so, Germany meets Spain on Sunday in the Euro 2008 Championship game, and Marat Safin advanced again at Wimbledon!

SWEET! Okay, back to Auntie duty...

Cheers,
Kat

Office Eye-Candy

A belated thanks to my blog pal, MB at BOYFRIEND, for the awesome John Krasinki post (and shout-out)!!

Ooh-OOH!

Marat Safin beat the 3rd-seed, Novak Djokovic, today in the 2nd round at Wimbledon! BRAVO, MARAT!!!

P.S. In Euro 2008 action, Germany takes on Turkey in the first semi-final today (on ESPN at 11:30am PST)!

LHK Tennis Update

1) In first round Wimbledon news,

- Robby Ginepri lost (boo!)
- Marat Safin won (yay!)
- Canadian Frank Dancevic (rocking a headband) stuns David Nalbandian (bravo!)

2) the British press has apparently just(?) found out about Rafa Nadal's not-so-secret girlfriend...

Wimbledon!

The Euro 2008 semi-finals are all set and start this Wednesday. Bravo to Spain for beating Italy today; I've made a pitcher of Sangria in your honor!

So, fortunately for me, there's no sports break because Wimbledon starts tomorrow (well, tonight sort of)!

Coverage of the Championships at Wimbledon starts tonight (June 23rd; 4am PST on ESPN2)!

Both of my beloveds, Robby Ginepri and Marat Safin, will be in action on the first day. Unfortunately, Gineps takes on Fernando Gonzalez in the first round (argh!), and Marat drew a young Italian I've never heard of, Fabio Fognini. We'll see...

Happy Birthday, Raffaella!

Happy Birthday to my other Mom, Raff!

Speaking of Raff,

1) She, the crew and I saw GET SMART yesterday. It was fairly amusing and overall wasn't terrible. I was just supporting Steve Carell by seeing it.

and

2) ITALY takes on Spain today in the last quarterfinal of Euro 2008! It airs on ESPN at 11:30am PST. Raff's Dad (and my faux grandfather) was an Italian soccer player back in the day, but unfortunately I'm leaning slightly towards Spain in today's game.

The Euros

There's a great game on today: CROATIA vs. TURKEY in the Euro 2008 quarterfinals. I'm rooting for those hot Croats! Check it/them out on ESPN at 11:30am PST.

Shopping, Sweetie!

Just wanted to share a few FAB items that have caught my eye:

1) First and foremost, I am contemplating ordering the new Chelsea FC away kit; it's black and gorgeous. I was hoping to tone down my Chelsea fanaticism, but they keep dragging me back in.

2) A funny tee I ordered from SnorgTees...
3) J'adore this fancy water bottle from fredflare.com

Oh Lawd!

Check out Sweet Cheeks Becks in the new Emporio Armani summer ad; MEYOWZA!

In other, err, soccer news, the quarterfinals of Euro 2008 start today with Germany taking on Portugal (live on ESPN at 11:30am PST). Although there are 3 Chelsea players on the Portugeezer squad (along with Chelsea's soon to be manager, Scolari), I just can't root for Portugal because they also have that damn gypsy, Cristiano Ronaldo (boo! spit! boo!). I guess I'll be rooting for Germany (and their Chelsea player, Michael Ballack).

New Music (&DVD) Tuesday

First of all, if you haven't yet checked out the Audio Bullys' new single "Gimme That Punk", do it NOW!

I'm also really excited about the new cds from COLDPLAY and KATHY GRIFFIN but just giving little shout-outs to the rest below.

Where have I been?

I guess I've been a tad side-tracked by Euro 2008. The new season of Kathy Griffin's MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST has already started! I caught the repeat of the season premiere last night, and it was, of course, hilarious! Season 4 is airing on Bravo, Thursdays at 10pm.
Kath also has a comedy album coming out tomorrow! On the way home tonight, I passed by a billboard promoting it at the intersection of Sunset and Crescent Heights. Her billboard ranks not too far below my favorite billboard EVER; the Freddie Ljungberg for Calvin Klein one:
P.S. Going back to Euro 2008, there's a big game tomorrow. It's a practical re-match of the World Cup 2006 final, as Italy takes on France for a spot in the quarter-finals (June 17th on ESPN at 11:30am PST).

Happy Father's Day!

To my Dad, to my Brosef, and to Papa Ron...

P.S. Go Lakers!

LHK Tennis Update

Both of my beloveds, Marat Safin and Robby Ginepri, lost in the 2nd round of the Artois Championships in London. :( Well, at least, we have Wimbledon starting in a couple of weeks...

Big Phil!

Chelsea FC has named Luis Felipe Scolari as their new manager! Scolari, a Brazilian, is currently coaching Portugal in the Euro 2008. Here's hoping Scolari brings us GREAT SUCCESS!

Pancho Fantastico!

My pal, John Hoskinson, is back on Men In Trees (10pm PST on ABC) tonight! Well actually, one of his songs is... Tune in to catch/hear "Miss Rejection" from the fabulous album PANCHO FANTASTICO!

1) For a complete EURO 2008 game and TV schedule, check out this LINK.

2) Robby Ginepri won his first round match against Vince Spadea today at the Artois Championships. He meets yet another American in the 2nd round: Andy Roddick. Go, Robby!

3) Chelsea FC still hasn't found a manager, and players transfers are in the works too. It's been said that Chelsea may go after the talented Frenchman, Franck Ribery, which would be an excellent choice.

More Important But...

I know there are more important things in the world, BUT here's a little round-up of what's been happening in LHK-world:

1) The French Open ended today. As my blog pal, Erwin, would say, "Le sigh..." Rafa Nadal won the men's title for the 4th year in a row, and Ana Ivanovic took the women's title (becoming the 1st Serbian woman to reach #1 along the way).

Speaking of the women's final, I noticed an odd sighting in the crowd near Ana Ivanovic's camp. Check out recently-sacked Chelsea FC manager, Avram Grant, in this picture (click to enlarge):

2) Also on the tennis-front, the Artois Championships (a Wimbledon warm-up tournament) has started. Tomorrow, both of my beloveds will be in action. Marat Safin takes on British qualifier, James Ward, and Robby Ginepri takes on Vince Spadea. Good luck, Lads! BTW, Tennis Channel will start airing matches from this tourney on Friday.

3) In soccer/football news, the UEFA EURO 2008 started yesterday. For those of you that aren't familiar with it, it's like the World Cup, but it only includes European countries. Although England didn't qualify for it, it's still a HUGE tournament, with plenty of EYE-CANDY (Swedes, Spaniards, Croats, Italians; YUMMY)! And, I have no clear pick for a team winner, but I'm kind of rooting for Croatia and Germany.

4) What else? I've tried a couple of new (to me) restaurants: HOME and 25 DEGREES. Both were pretty good, but nothing to rush out to...

Happy Birthday, Nancy!

A very happy birthday to Ms. NANCY SINATRA!

Women's Final

Tomorrow's the big day: Dinara Safina and Ana Ivanovic will battle it out for the French Open title (June 7th at 6am PST on NBC)! It will be the first Grand Slam win for the Victor. Although I think Ana is great, I'll be rooting for Dinara!

Frenchie Open Update

The LADIES semis look so FAB! My two favorites, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Dinara Safina (both Ruskies), will meet each other in one semi-final, and the other semi-final will feature the Serbian Surge, with Jelena Jankovic taking on her compatriot Ana Ivanovic.

Set your DVRs for 3am PST tomorrow (Thursday, June 5th on Tennis Channel).

GO, LADY(s)! sic

P.S. On a random note, check out JT on holiday in Disney World.

LHK Sporting News

1) Former Chelsea FC manager, Jose Mourinho, has signed a 3-year contract to manage Inter Milan. Let's hope he doesn't steal any Chelsea players! In any case, I'm bracing myself for a dramatic upcoming season 'cause I certainly wasn't prepared for this past heart-breaking '07-'08 one!

2) Robby Ginepri unfortunately lost his match today at the French Open versus Fernando Gonzalez. But, he had a great run AND has gotten himself a spot on the U.S. Olympic team now! Here's hoping he has a great rest of the season!

3) And, brava to Dinara Safina for saving several match points to come back and BEAT Maria Sharapova!
