Currently Reading

I've been overindulging in junk food this holiday break. I think this will be a very apropos book for me as the New Year approaches...

Soccer & Tennis today (results)

Both Robby Ginepri and Chelsea FC won TITLES today! I'm a very happy camper (and tacos at BT's were the icing).

An Extravaganza

Ronz and I attended the Saban Free Clinic's Extravaganza for the Senses tonight at Fox Studios, and it was a lot of fun! The weather was great, as was the music (DJ'd by Scott Silva), food, and wine (our fav was the Broadbent Vinho Verde).

They even had henna tattoo artists there, and I finally got a CFC tattoo that I've been dying to try out (to go along with my newly manicured Chelsea blue nails)! I'm no hand model I know, but I gotz to get ready for the Chelsea boys. I'm seeing them in just 2 days!!!

I went to the Dodger game with my Brosef tonight, and they won 7-2 against the Arizona Diamondbacks (pic to be posted soon)!

But, I ate my garlic fries and Dodger dog way too fast; ahhhhhurppp!

Live Music Tonight

BT and I went to the Robin Thicke - Jennifer Hudson show at the Nokia Live tonight, and it was really delightful. Robin Thicke is so darn cute and sexy and that J-Hud sure can sing!

Before the show, we dined at a cool spot called THE MUST BAR, recommended to us by RD. Check it out the next time you're looking for a nosh-spot downtown.

P.S. We saw Robin Thicke driving in his black Porsche as we were leaving the venue, and I had my camera handy!!

Restaurant Review

Ronz and I checked out LUAU in Beverly Hills tonight. I think I agree with most of the other reviews I've seen online; it's quite delicious BUT expensive. I'm not sure I'd rush back there, but I really wanted to check it out at least once.

i-Dub Highlights

Even though one of my favorite players, Robby Ginepri, wasn't at the tournament this year, I ended up seeing dozens and dozens of tennis pros and so much amazing tennis! Let me share the highlights in short-hand broken down by day:

FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2009

- Andy Murray playing dubz with fellow Brit, Ross Hutchins
- Jeremy Chardy's 1st round match versus Victor Hanescu (please see My Weekend with Jeremy Chardy post)

- The Ladies; Shahar Peer's fighting spirit and Dinara Safina's power were inspiring.

- Met up with my pals, the McCreary's!

- James Blake practicing with Leyton Hewitt

- DUBZ Eye-candy: Fernando Gonzalez teaming up with Tommy Robredo; Ay Mami!

- And, OF COURSE, I drank an infamous and delicious Indian Wells Bloody Mary

SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2009

- Tommy Robredo (sporting a really cute buzz cut)

- Fernando Verdasco; HIS hairstyle wins the LHK prize for the FOXIEST! I cannot resist a faux-hawk!
- Paul-Henri Mathieu vs. Potito Starace. This match lasted for 3 exciting sets, and I was pleasantly surprised by Potito's sexy machismo; very Italian!
- In honor of my sister-in-law's heritage, I got a front row seat to an all-Croatian match: Ivan Ljubicic vs. Mario Ancic. Talk about tall drinks of water! The powerful aces being served on tiny Court #4 were dangerous to be near. But, this match only lasted 6 games due to the fact that Mario Ancic was under the weather and retired at 3-3.

- Met fellow Chelsea FC super-fan and tennis aficionado, Ron (from Orange County)

- Ran into my pal, Christian, from grad school

- Got a pic with JC! (again, please see My Weekend with Jeremy Chardy post)

SUNDAY, MARCH 15, 2009

- Got to the grounds early (10am) to score a good seat to the Jeremy Chardy versus Mardy Fish match (again, please see My Weekend with Jeremy Chardy post)

- More DUBZ Eye-candy: Feliciano Lopez teamed up with Fernando Verdasco; Ay Dios Mio!

- Marat Safin practicing shirtless! (please see The Legendary Marat post)

- Met up with my blog pal, Erwin (from TENNIS SERVED FRESH), and we inadvertently (no joke) ended up in VIP seats during the John Isner vs. Gael Monfils match

- Rafael Nadal hitting unbelievable shots versus Michael Berrer in the main stadium

- Marat's 2nd round match versus Nicolas Massu (from Chile); (again, please see The Legendary Marat post)

- Made it home, safe and sound at about 11:15pm

Shopping, Sweetie!

Today, I slept in since I didn't get in until after 4am the night before. But, once I woke up around 1pm, I realized that I had to get my butt into gear and get some shopping done, Sweetie.

My first and most important shopping mission was to pay homage to the brick and mortar version of one of my favorite online stores FRED FLARE! So, I got my trusty hopstop.com directions and took a couple of subways from Manhattan to Brooklyn and made it just in time before Fred Flare's Sunday closing time of 5pm. Of course, the store was SUPER-CUTE!
I was also fortunate enough to meet one of Fred Flare's co-founders/owners, the adorable Keith. He actually rang me up; such a treat!! I told him how big of fan I am, and he couldn't have been sweeter (even though I must have seemed like such a dorky mess).

Then, when I made my way back to Manhattan, I went shopping all up and down 5th Avenue. I think I would have made Edina and Patsy proud!

In my last night in NYC, I met up with my good friend, Jamba, who took me to a delish restaurant called BECCO, which was really close to my hotel.

Then finally, I met up with an old work colleague for drinks at a place called BELMONT LOUNGE. The place was nice enough, but unfortunately the reggae music was too loud to try and have a decent conversation.

A Big Day!!!

Today was my busiest day in NYC...

I started out my day by going to NEVADA SMITHS ("Where Football is Religion!") to meet up with the NEW YORK BLUES to watch Chelsea take on Newcastle. Unfortunately, Chelsea drew 0-0, but I nonetheless had such a cool time meeting fellow Chelsea fanatics.
Then, I met up with AJ and Erik at a really yummy diner called GOOD STUFF DINER.

Afterwards, AJ and I headed to the NEW MUSEUM to see the exhibit that I've been dying to go to: Elizabeth Peyton's LIVE FOREVER. The exhibit exceeded all of my expectations! It was so cool to see Peyton's strokes up close, and the colors are so much vibrant in person.

Then, after the exhibit, AJ and I checked out UNIQLO, which is basically the Japanese Gap. Think any sweater in any style and color you can imagine...

My evening started with a night at the theatre (pronounced thee-AH-Tah). Erik and I saw EQUUS at the Broadhurst Theatre, starring a (nekked) Daniel Radcliffe. I'm not a theatre fan, but I really (and surprisingly) enjoyed this production. Everything was great; the acting, the direction and the set design.

But, my evening didn't end there. I met up with Jed and AJ and headed down to Brooklyn to a craZAY party called RUBULAD. AJ and her pals played a fun super-late-night set with Bruno of THE HOMOSEXUALS! (BTW, in a previous post, I had mistakenly thought that AJ's band LOOKER was going to play).

Made it to NYC!

I made it to NYC, and it's SUPER-COLD!!

I'm staying at the Paramount, and my room is old and very small, BUT chic and cozy at the same time.

Tried to get into a Conan taping, but the stand-by line was cut-off four people ahead of me; BOO!

But fortunately, I then met up with my friends Jed and Liz, who took me to a yummy place called NOODLE BAR.

Afterwards, we met with my pals, AJ and Erik, and went to a couple of bars. First, a packed and more upscale place called EMPLOYEES ONLY and next a more casual place called THE WHITE HORSE TAVERN (apparently it was Dylan Thomas' favorite pub).

Overall, I had such a fun first night in NYC!!
