Iraq's national soccer team won the Asian Cup yesterday, beating Saudi Arabia (1-0) and bringing a little bit of joy to such a war-torn country.
In other sports news:
1) The date of Sweet Cheeks' (I mean, Becks') return to the Galaxy squad is still unknown. Damn it!
2) Liverpool's Jamie Carragher thinks Chelsea (NOT MAN U) is the EPL team to beat this season, and I couldn't agree more! Last season, Chelsea had so many horrendous injuries, and they still managed to win two trophies and a close second place finish. So, look out!
3) This week's U.S. Open Series of tennis has the ATP stopping in Washington, DC for the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, and the WTA will be in Carlsbad for the Acura Classic. For some odd reason, Robby Ginepri isn't entered in the DC tourney, but at least Marat Safin (who's seeded third) is!!!
